FAQ

Will Swordfodder™ targets hurt my sword?

After thousands of cuts with weapons from the top weapon makers like Angus Trim, Last Legend, and Paul Chen, we have seen no dulling, rusting, scuffing or bending in any sword as a result of cutting our targets. Our main western testing sword is an Angus Trim that has made at least 4 thousand cuts on synthetic targets and it looks like it was purchased yesterday.

Have you ever bent a sword cutting Swordfodder™ targets?

We have never had an incident in which a sword or knife was bent because of striking a Swordfodder™ synthetic target. And it’s not for lack of trying. That is why Swordfodder™ synthetic targets are great for learning the difficult cuts like Zwerchhau, horizontal cuts and false edge cuts. So far, no matter how bad we have been, the sword lived to tell about it.

What about preparation, clean-up time and storage?

Our targets are ready to use right out of the box - no soaking or preparation required. We simply take them out of the box, put them on a stand, and start cutting. Clean up time is minimal- just pick up the pieces and throw them away. Swordfodder™ synthetic targets do not leave sticky residue or water on your blade.

After several poor cuts, some target material may stick to the sword blade. It is easily removed by one pass with a rag soaked in mineral oil, choji or WD-40.

Any unused targets can simply be returned to the box to be used at a later date.

Why don’t you sell round targets?

Cost. Round targets must be extruded in that shape. This triples the cost of the target. After extensive testing between round and rectangular cross-section targets, the unanimous decision remains that there is no difference, and as such the more cost effective option is preferred.
